Mulch fabric can be supplied on rolls. Mulching fabric is ideal for laying as a sheet to provide weed protection / weed control along hedgerows, around new planting, in horticultural settings, under gravel paths and driveways, under decking, porous paving grids and to stabilise embankments.

Mulching Fabric / Weed Guard / Ground Cover Materials

Mulching fabric rolls are available in three photodegradable materials: woven polypropylene, spunbonded polypropylene and polythene, in a biodegradable jute / hessian and in a hybrid material: jute with a polythene backing. The photodegradable mulching materials offer a long lasting, cost effective mulching solution, whereas the biodegrable materials provide a more environmentally friendly solution, do not need to be collected up and release nitrogen and other beneficial elements into the soil as they rot.

Polythene rolls are widely accepted as an effective and low-cost mulching material and is normally anchored by being buried along its edges.
Spun-bonded Non-Woven Polypropylene weed control fabric is water permeable, and unlike woven polypropylene their edges will not fray when cut, however it must not be allowed to flap.
Woven Polypropylene ground cover fabric rolls are water permeable, easily pegged using our plastic anchor pegs and much stronger than either polythene or spun-bonded polypropylene mulch mats.
Jute/Hessian mulch fabric rolls are manufactured from a mixture of recycled jute and cashmere hair, needled onto a hessian backing. As the material degrades nitrogen and other beneficial elements are released to benefit the growing plants. Should be pegged using Acorns biodegradable plastic anchor pegs, as burying will stimulate rotting.
Hybrid Jute mulching fabric is made from a mixture of recycled jute and cashmere hair, needled onto a polythene backing. As with the jute product, the mulching mats should be pegged, rather than buried, to prevent accelerated degradation.
