ShelterguardTM Cut to Size

Cut pieces of Shelterguard are very versatile as they are available in a much wider range of sizes than pre-formed tubes and make an economical alternative. The prices listed are for the most common sizes, however, we can make 9cm, 15cm and 20cm diameter shelters at any height, and 60cm tall shelters to any diameter.

We also offer the option of rolling and banding sets of 4 or 5 pieces of material for an extra 20%. This pre-forming makes the shelters easier to construct in the field and is particularly helpful for smaller diameters.

Acorn tree shelters protect trees from browsing animals including rabbits and deer. The plastic mesh is manufactured by coextruding a laminate of 12mm square plastic netting and a tinted polyethylene film lining. The film laminate gives the tree guard added shelter, allows light to penetrate and acts like a greenhouse encouraging good strong early tree growth. The material will photodegrade in two stage stages, with the polythene lining breaking up first (after the tree has established), leaving a free draining tree guard to continue to provide support and browsing protection.

N.B. care should be taken to monitor for stem abrasion on heights over 60cm, as the top edge is not smooth.
