Spiral Shelters

The selection of photos below show some examples of spiral shelters in use.

Spirals offer a cheap and effective way of protecting young trees from browsing damage by rabbits and can be supported cost effectively with an internal bamboo cane.

A native broadleaf hedge establishing very successfully in acorn spiral shelters.  The micro-climate provided by the spiral shelter acts like a mini greenhouse, boosting growth.

As the stem of the plant grows the spiral will expand and unwind.  As they reach the end of their lifespan they become brittle and break up into smaller pieces.
Spirals are the ideal choice for re-establishing hedgerows.  They are cost effective, unobtrusive and prevent browsing damage by rabbits.   Acorn's spirals are manufactured with a green tint to improve their appearance, increase their life span and help prevent leaf scorch. All acorn spirals have a generous overlap to protect from herbecide spray and provide greater browsing protection.
